SusChem Portugal, launched in 2024, is a platform to champion for Sustainable Chemistry in Portugal, and to foster cross-sector collaborations by creating a knowledge exchange forum for experts and stakeholders.
The SusChem Portugal Secretariat is run by CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials that represents academia and acts as host. SusChem PT is an alliance of national stakeholders that are a representative sample of Portugal in various areas of industrial interest where sustainable chemistry plays a key role, namely the chemical products sector, the polymers and plastics sector, the textile sector, the forest-based sector, and the ceramics sector.
SusChem Portugal aims to:
- Work under the common label of “sustainable chemistry” with the relevant stakeholders, namely the Portuguese Industry, Academia, Society and Government
- Promote the SusChem vision and main priorities at the European and Portuguese levels
- Boost the cooperation between the Portuguese industry, academic and research institutes, and society
- Facilitate transnational collaboration in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology, and chemical technology
- Strengthen the participation of Portuguese project teams in the EU funding programmes.
