The 2019 SusChem Stakeholders Event "Sustainable Chemistry to solve global challenges: the new SusChem Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda" will be held on 27 November 2019, at the Marriott Grande Place hotel, in Brussels.

As part of its new SIRA, SusChem has responded to global challenges for a sustainable future, recommending technology priorities that can become solutions. During the event, the new SusChem SIRA will be launched, reflecting the strategy and role of Sustainable Chemistry and Industrial Biotech in boosting innovation in Europe, in the context of Horizon Europe and beyond.

The new SusChem SIRA aspires to bring the SusChem vision towards 2030, providing high level priorities as well as a technology roadmap. This is the result of a collaborative and co-creation effort, across Europe, together with the SusChem Stakeholders. The innovation priorities focus on the main pillars of SusChem: Advanced Materials, Advanced Processes and enabling Digital technologies as well as their synergies. Horizontal topics: 'safe-by-design', 'sustainability assessment', and 'building on education and skills capacity' are part of the strategic recommendations for reflection and discussion.

Throughout the day, participants will discuss global and societal challenges, and the SusChem SIRA-relevant priorities, including the digital transformation of the chemical and industrial biotech sectors, the prospects and challenges of Circular Economy and the energy transition across value chains, and the role of innovation at national and European level.

The draft programme is available here.
