Flavio Benedito is an Innovation Manager in the Research and Innovation team at the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic). He is currently responsible for the management of the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry (SusChem), and contributes to the coordination of its strategy. Working closely with the European Commission and other institutions, he delivers input from the chemical sector to Research and Innovation, and development topics.

Benedito actively works in European funded projects, such as the European Sustainable Chemicals Support Service, aiming to map and leverage investment readiness of European regions in relation to sustainable chemical value chains.

He completed his PhD in Chemistry at the formal Max-Planck-Institute for Bioinorganic Chemistry (today Max-Planck-Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion) in 2008, continuing to work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute for Coal Research at the Innsbruck University in Austria. Benedito’s experience encompasses academia, research institutions and industry, as well as working one year at Bayer CropScience. He is currently employed by BASF.
